How it started
Mai Candles began in 2015 with a simple question: why should a candle that marks something meaningful disappear as it burns?
Finding an answer took time. After testing different paraffin wax formulations and casting the wax in custom metal molds, we arrived at something different—a real paraffin wax body, hollowed by hand and designed to hold a removable flameless LED light instead of a wick. When a compatible light is placed inside, the piece glows from within without requiring the wax body itself to be lit.
Then came the part that shaped everything after. We found that a design could extend across the full surface of the candle—not as a label or a single printed face, but as artwork carried around the entire wax body. Names, dates, messages, Arabic calligraphy, and botanical artwork can all become part of the piece and be illuminated from within.

What we make
Mai Candles is a keepsake brand. Candles are where we started, but what we're really making is a piece worth keeping—something that can hold a name, a date, or a few words, and remain meaningful long after the occasion has passed.
The same design can take on a different meaning through a name, date, or short message—whether chosen for a wedding, a thoughtful gift, or a moment of faith and reflection. Personalisation is optional; every design can also be ordered just as shown.

How each piece is made
Every order is made individually, by hand.
The wax is cast in custom metal molds, then hollowed by hand as part of the candle's structure. The design is applied across the full surface using Ricoh precision printing—continuously around curved pieces and across all four connected faces of square designs.
Each piece is then carefully finished, inspected, and packed in protective thermal packaging prepared for the journey.
Because every piece is finished by hand, small variations may appear from one piece to another.

Made to be kept, not burned away. Every choice we make—from using real paraffin wax and hollowing each piece by hand to carefully applying the design across its surface—comes back to whether the finished piece feels meaningful and worth keeping.
Honest before impressive. We would rather explain exactly what each piece is, and what it is not, than describe it in words that sound better than the truth.
